A Foraging Feast in Sonoma
Foodies, take note. California’s Sonoma wine country is one of the most amazing bioregions in the world. Now you can harvest the bounty of the region on a guided foraging trek.
The day starts by sampling delicacies like chanterelles, black trumpets and trailside leafy greens from local forests. A native foodie explains the difference between each delicacy and how they are grown. Then you head to the tidepools in search of sea grasses, which you will carefully harvest and serve later with a shellfish dish.
The foraging continues the rest of the morning before returning to the kitchen where everyone turns their findings into dishes like mushroom soup, seafood grill or scones with hand picked red berries. Classes are taught by a Nova Scotia chef, who sends students off with recipes from his new cookbook and instructions on how to source their own wild ingredients.
This is a great way to hunt nature and transform these finds into a healthy and satisfying meal.
